Today is ‘Good Shepherd’ Sunday. Jesus is the good shepherd who will do everything to ensure that we, his sheep remain in the sheepfold. Even when we wander and are sometimes lost he will never abandon us. Every one of us matters to Jesus, we are each special in his eyes, he loves us unconditionally and he is always concerned about us. He invites us to trust completely in him, for he is our shepherd, and he promises us that he is with us always – we shall not want. He guides us along the right paths, to his own house, where we shall dwell for ever.

When we trust in the Lord, we can experience his goodness and the fullness of life to which he calls us, for he says “I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full. (John 10:10). Life is not always easy and there are lots of difficulties along the way, but the Lord is indeed the good shepherd who is always full of compassion and love, consoling us in our difficulties and leading us to new life “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose. Near restful waters he leads me, to revive my drooping spirit.”  (Psalm 22). He is our refuge and strength who gives us peace. We can entrust all our fears, worries, cares and concerns to him. He loved us first and assures us that he is always by our side on the walk of faith.
