My name is Patrick Muldoon, I’m 29 and from Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. On September 30th 2011 I’m leaving Ireland to study at the Emmanuel School of Mission in Rome. The school is a one year programme (under the patronage of the Pontifical Council of the Laity) offering missionary, spiritual and doctrinal formation for twenty young adults from around the world and incorporates a Certificate in Pastoral Theology from Lateran University, Rome. You can find out more about my year of mission by watching the ESM video. Also as part of the programme I will be returning with the school to do missions in Dublin during the preparations and programme of the International Eucharistic Congress 2012.
My motivation in doing this programme comes from a desire to study for a deeper formation in my faith, experience community-life, retreats and missions at the heart of the Church in Rome; and an eagerness to learn how to be a true missionary, with the intention of serving the Church in Ireland on my return. I have been actively involved in my parish, diocese and other youth groups in the Church for many years and have especially been involved in leadership roles withYouth 2000 Ireland. My life has been blessed in so many wonderful ways through being involved in the work of youth evangelisation, and now I desire to continue to be missionary and reach out into the deep, trusting in God’s plan for my life.
In undertaking this year in Rome I am trusting in providence that God will provide. I am leaving my job as Administrator with Sacred Space and will be making every effort to fundraise the ESM fees of €13,000. I am hoping to fundraise some of these costs to enable me fulfill my dream of giving a year of my life for God, and would greatly appreciate any support whatsoever you may be able to offer. If you wish to make a financial donation you can do so by clicking on the ‘Donate’ button to the right. I am especially appealing for your prayerful support, if you can remember me in your prayers I would be most grateful.
